Barry Richter M.D., F.R.C.S.

Barry Richter MD, has had an interest in endoscopic surgery since 1992. He attended many training courses and proctorships with eminent surgeons in their fields and starting performing LAVH in 1992, endometrial ablation and endomyometrial resection in 1993 and laparoscopic modified Burch vesicosuspension in 1994. Whilst in practice in Pennsylvania he proctored physicians in laparoscopic modified Burch vesicosuspension.

Present interests include laparoscopic myomectomy, total laparoscopic hysterectomy for the large uterus, pelvic adhesion surgery with use of SprayGel, laparoscopic Burch vesicosuspension and paravaginal defect repair and hysteroscopic treatment of fibroids.

A graduate of the Stellenbosch University in South Africa, Dr Richter is licensed to practice medicine in the Cayman Islands and South Africa. He is on the permanent register in Canada and is Canadian Board certified. He is licensed to practice medicine in PA and NY (inactive status at present). Dr Richter is a board member of the ISGE and is involved in the clinical teaching of students of the St Matthews University of the Cayman Islands. He has privileges at the George Town Hospital and the Chrissie Tomlinson Memorial Hospital on the Cayman Islands. Prior appointments include: chief of OB/GYN at the Fort St John General Hospital in Fort St John, B.C. Canada; attending medical staff at the Jones Memorial Hospital, Wellsville NY; chief of OB/Gyn at the Bradford Regional Medical Center and Director of Family Planning Services of McKean County PA and attending medical staff at the Warren General Hospital in Warren PA.
